Dr. Alistair Dove - “Whale sharks of the world: connecting the dots”

The whale shark is the largest non-whale vertebrate on the planet and the largest fish that has ever lived, but they are globally endangered by human activities. What secrets does the life of such an animal hold, what can we learn from them about their vast open ocean habitat, and how can we restore their populations and ensure their perpetual presence in the tropical oceans? From Madagascar to Mexico and St Helena to the Seychelles, join marine biologist and author Dr. Alistair Dove from Georgia Aquarium this World Oceans Day as we explore the extraordinary life and adaptations of whale sharks in a search for insight into the life of the world’s biggest fish.

Beverages and socializing begin at 6:30pm on the patio in front of the Museum. All tickets include one free drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic); additional beverages are available for purchase. Beverages may not be brought into The Planetarium. Guest speakers begin presenting in The Planetarium at 7:00pm, followed by a Q&A period. Additional beverages are available for purchase after the presentation on the patio until 8:30pm. Masks are required inside the Museum.
